Bike-Packing

I enjoyed bike-packing in California and Europe but didn’t plan a trip near DC in my first five years living here. Small day trips introduced me to rides in the area and I kept hearing about the C&O Canal Trail. I finally gave it a try in July 2026 using Amtrak to make it a one-way, two-day ride from Harper’s Ferry to DC with plenty of time for historical sites, swimming in the river, good food, microbreweries, and milk shakes. 35 miles/day is a comfortable pace for enjoying stops along the way. I can’t wait to to it again and start further up the river next time.
